Al Gore and his posse announced today that they are moving ahead with a second ho-hum environmentally-charged pollution-fest with Live Earth India. Now, with all the sins America must already deal with, we are responsible for bringing Jon Bon Jovi to starving people. That's like sending Calista Flockhart as a nutrition advisor.

What's the purpose? Raise awareness? Ha. Preach to foreigners and tell them to do what we don't? Tacky, but more likely. We ought to get our own shit together before we start telling others to do the same thing.

If Al wants to listen to me, I hereby propose the following:

A series of community concerts. Use your local talent. Webify the moneyraising, link the things up, have everyone bring their webcams. In this day of an economy shrinking faster than George Costanza in a cold pool, that seems like a much more doable answer.

Nothing against India, but it seems stupid for us to export more condescension when we need to be sending a good example.
