The EPA declined to give Texas Gov. Rick Perry and his poultry packing buddies the waiver on renewable fuels they asked for. And Monsanto has
decided to sell off and stop promoting their Recumbent Bovine Growth Hormone.
I realize that my past two blogs addressing these two issues had nothing to do with the outcomes, it does however always feel good to know that the viewyou have of an issue is indeed the correct one.
Just the other day we had a visit from our US Congressional Representative. Roy Blunt has been a Congressman since 1997. Mr. Blunt’s visit to our
biodiesel plant was a part of his annual Ag Tour throughout his district. We were very encouraged by many of the things discussed during our portion of the tour, especially the ideas about tax incentives and research and development opportunities for the biofuels industry.
Regardless of political party it is clear that American needs strong leadership in the realm of renewable fuels and sustainable agriculture. We
are at an amazing time right now where two giant sectors of the world economy, agriculture and energy, are becoming so intertwined. The market has largely driven the desire for biofuels. The technologies developed have come from private companies rather than government-funded entities. Like American Green Holdings (the parent company of Bid For Green) and its development of the Supercritical Methanol biodiesel reactor.
Now is the time for good policy and strong leadership to ensure that the bioenergy and agricultural sectors have the legislation needed to promote
the renewable and sustainable aspects of both industries. With the right plans and programs we can fuel and feed the world with a lower negative
impact on our natural resources.
Nothing, and I mean nothing has a greater impact or more positive influence on the world we live in than we do.
It is a beautiful day.
